This story can change your thinking or may be inspire you. So read this post by your heart.

This post is about a common man to known icon of present time who had a dream to do something big in his life but I told you earlier that he is a common man so definitely he faced some failure in his life. So, let me tell you a brief description about his struggle, failure first.

A young man who has tasted both failure and success in a short span of time, Sandeep has become an inspiration to many.

Sandeep’s vision is to ignite and inspire the entrepreneurial spirit of tomorrow's leaders and help them succeed.

Sandeep, a college dropout, started as a freelance photographer and faced countless adversities to become one of the most well known entrepreneurs of India.

2000 - Started as a freelance photographer without any studio (used to take studio on rent).

2001 - Sold his camera and joined Japan Life, a multi level marketing company.

2002 - Started a company in partnership with three more people but the company closed within a period of six months.

2003 - Wrote a book on marketing and started a consultancy firm. Failed again and got back to what he was really passionate about - photography. Created a World Record in fashion photography (Published in the “Limca Book of Records 2004”).

2004 - Created a small studio set-up at home and started expanding the portfolio making business by hiring few assistant photographers.

2005 - Conceived the idea to start a stock photography website and started working on ImagesBazaar.

2006 - Launched www.imagesbazaar.com with just 8,000 images shot by a few photographers.

But now imagesbazaar  has got more than 10,00,000 images and videos shot by over 11,400 photographers and filmmakers from all over India. ImagesBazaar is the world’s #1 collection of Indian images and videos. Over 7,000 brands in more than 45 countries have been using ImagesBazaar’s images and videos for their advertising, marketing and publishing needs.

Here I am going to tell you a small incident which happened in his life.
When he was 13, Sandeep Maheshwari's father thought his son could do with a moped. So he bought the young fellow a shiny new two-wheeler thinking it would help him move around in Delhi, a city starved of a good transport system.
Little did Maheshwari Sr know that his son would actually make money out of the gift! On the first available occasion Sandeep rented out the moped to one of his friends who wanted to take his girl for a spin.
Within a matter of months, Sandeep was a star and became known to everyone looking for two wheels with an engine attached. The rate: Rs 50 per hour and the condition that the rider bears the fuel expenses!
It wasn't long before Sandeep not only recovered the cost of the moped but was also making money from it!
Later when his father fell on tough times, it was this entrepreneurial spirit that held him in good stead.

Recently, I saw his seminar video on youtube i.e.

"LAST Life-Changing Seminar by Sandeep Maheshwari in Hindi"

And I must is really a awesome speech by him, you all guys must see this video if you know HINDI.

Hope you like this post, you can sends your valuable feedback and suggestion to me at youthtalentauzzar@gmail.com

Indian Student Entrepreneur Wins Intel Global Challenge: Neha Juneja

tags: , , , , , , ,

Neha Juneja, a Student social entrepreneur, her company Greenway Grameen Infra won the 2012 Intel Global Challenge at Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, receiving $50,000 on November 9 amongst more than 150,000 students from more than 50 countries.

The Intel Global Challenge is a joint project of Intel and the UC Berkeley Lester Center for Entrepreneurship. Started in 2005, it rewards student entrepreneurs a total of $100,000 for innovative ideas that can make a positive impact on society.

Juneja, 27, co-founder and chief executive officer who had also won the Businessworld Young Entrepreneur Award in 2011 said, "I was surprised because the other participants were very good.

All of them had unique ideas, so I was a little nervous. It's like getting a dream award. This award is very important. Very!"

Juneja came up with this idea after a visit to a village in Wardha, Maharashtra, where she saw a small home with a television, refrigerator, mobile phones, and motorbike. Yet the lady of the house was cooking on a mud stove.

To develop the product, Juneja travelled to 22 states in India, understanding cooking habits across the country for a year. In this one year, she tested nine different designs before finalizing the Greenway stove that costs $23 and consumes one-third of the fuel a mud stove consumes. Also, unlike mud stoves, it does not produce carbon monoxide in the smoke.

Juneja says she and her five member team never thought of this as a social venture. They always considered it a business opportunity.

Neha has been involved in executing climate change mitigation and adaptation projects across the country. She has organized community-led projects and need-analysis consulting in a wide array of areas including agro forestry, primary energy supply and water access. Beyond this, she has been internationally recognized for her excellence in product design. In addition to the numerous awards she has helped GGI secure, Neha was named 2010's Brightest Young Climate Leader by the Hindustan Times & British Council. She earned her MBA from FMS, Delhi and a B.E. in Production & Industrial Engineering, as well as undergoing training on climate change mitigation and adaption at the Swedish Meterological & Hydrological Institute.

Fastest growing e-shopping portal of India : JABONG.COM

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , ,

Designers and retailers are opting for the “e” route to sell their wares. It saves on the high real-estate and operational costs of brick-and-mortar stores. Joining ranks with successful shopping portals such as www.flipkart.com, www.juvalia.in and www.perniaspopupshop.com is 10-month old www.jabong.com which stocks over 700 brands such as Ray-Ban, Calvin Klein, Nike, Clarks and Carlton London. Manu Kumar Jain, the website’s co-founder, unveiled a collection of VS-319 bats earlier this week, commemorating Virender Sehwag’s score of 319 runs against South Africa in 2008 — which will be sold exclusively through Jabong.

Jabong.com is an Indian Online fashion & Apparel store funded by Germany based incubator Rocket Internet. Jabong.com deals with apparels, footwear, jewellery, beauty products, Fragrances, Home Accessories and a few other varieties of products. Jabong has a well-maintained warehouse in approx. 1 lakh sq. feet area. The store at present has over 200 brands and 20,000 products and office in gurgaon it is upcoming fashion megastore Tagged as "Delivering lifestyle", Within 4 months of launch of operations, the company has over a million page views daily with more than 160,000 unique visitors which has taken the company to Rank 58 in Alexa rankings in India, leading to about 82,939 registered users in 5 months. Jabong offers express delivery with multiple methods for payment including credit/debit card, net banking and cash on delivery. The cash on delivery payment model is very significant in India, as people would like to see the product before making a purchase.

Here is an interview of the co-founder of the company

Have you tracked the web traffic on Jabong? How much of this translates into actual transactions?
I can’t divulge sales figures but as per the latest Com-Score report of September 2012, Jabong has recorded the second-highest web traffic (and the highest in the lifestyle domain) amongst all Indian e-commerce companies. The first, naturally, was Flipkart. But we [Jabong] were very close. Among all our items, shoes and apparel sell the most.

Why would a customer visit an online shopping portal instead of an offline one?
Every customer wants to browse through and purchase lifestyle brands, but not everyone has access to high-end malls. ‘E-tailing’ gives customers that opportunity without stepping out of their offices or homes. Moreover, customers can compare brands, colours and products with an easy click. Also, online shopping saves time and fuel!

Who is your target customer?
Anyone who is lifestyle and fashion-conscious. When we started operations, most of our revenues came from metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. But in the last few months, we have seen a huge traffic from tier-II cities which now form a significant part of our revenue, mostly because they don’t have access to big brands. In fact, I came to know about a customer from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh who wanted a specific brand, size, style and colour of a shirt — simply because he had seen a sportsman wearing it. He had the purchasing power and exposure to the brand. But to buy it, he had to travel for hours to get to the nearest retail outlet. And so he logged on to Jabong.

How do you track customer satisfaction and feedback?
During preliminary research, we found out that the one thing customers were most weary of was the long waiting period to receive their merchandise. They simply lost interest. So, we promise timely delivery across the country through our in-house shipping system. For instance, if you place an order at noon from Delhi, we will deliver it the same day. For other cities, it might take a little under 48 hours as long as you order before six in the evening. To gauge customer satisfaction, we conduct surveys regularly and have set up a team to analyse the results. At times, we call customers randomly to ask about their experience or conduct in-depth interviews with some. If need be, we also outsource the work to a market research agency.

one of ours customer said about us "Love that the delivery as well as the follow-up by email regarding exchange were so prompt ! There was never a situation where I was kept waiting for the reply from the customer-care, keep it up ! And for people like me who may not be able to take calls on my mobile for most of the day, such prompt replies on e-mail are a blessing, keep it up Jabong ! :) Your site is awesome ! So much of variety , I mean the collection of products ! Even in the footwear there are so many available ! That’s great !   Rest it’s good ! :) I like to shop more from Jabong everytime I have time to go and explore onlineI am highly pleased with the professionalism shown by Jabong.com in shipping my orders incredibly fast, that too all the way from Gurgaon to Bangalore. I got my hands on the products in less than 24 hrs which compels me to return to them for my future shopping as well. Well done Jabong.com. Way to go :) "

For an online portal, visual presentation is key. How do you ensure the brands who collaborate with you are kept happy?
We provide seven different shots of each products — zoomed in and out, with and without a model — to help the customer make the right choice.

Is e-commerce the way forward for designers and retailers alike?
I hope so, else I am in the wrong place! [Laughs]. Online shopping has become a new fad among the masses because of benefits such as safe transactions, flexible payment options such as cash on delivery, return policy and attractive offers during festive season.

Jabong was found in year 2011; it’s a young and vibrant company with about 800 employees. The new venture will be spearheaded by a founding team of three highly educated and experienced entrepreneurs Lakshmi Potluri, Arun Chandra Mohan and Praveen Sinha. Jabong.com was co-founded by Manu Kumar Jain.

Talent of Tribal Women, accepted by The World

UDAAN launches the entire new range of elegant handicrafts and artifacts

The entire range of products made by untapped craft skills of Tribal women

There is a very common saying, “Great things come in small packages”, and the same can be said about the talented Tribal women who belong to different corners of India but are extremely gifted when it comes to Handicrafts. Udaan is an endeavor to develop the untapped craft skills of women and provide them with a means of earning their livelihood, thus giving them the wings and freedom to achieve their dreams. Udaan manufactures elegant handicrafts and artifacts and this festive season they have launched entire new range of gifting solution. This has added a feather to Udaan’s cap. Udaan is the result of Shramik Naari Sangh’s (Sa-Ni-Sa) Employment Generation Program, especially for tribal women.

As a gifting gamut, Udaan is boasting with all hand-made products meticulously crafted and created by the tribal women. This range includes paper-bags, gift pouches, pooja, wedding garlands, door strings, envelopes, jute bags, shoulder bags, mobile pouches, table mats, tea coasters, cushion covers, yoga and meditation mats, jewelry, key chains, candles, decorative lanterns, room fresheners, etc.

The “Udaan” products are retailed at the leading stores in India, like the Sapna Book House of Bangalore, which is one of the largest book houses in Asia. The products have also been accepted by the corporate sector as CSR initiatives, where exhibition of the products are held throughout the year.  Some of their key patrons for Exhibitions include, Tata Interactive Systems, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Patni Computer Systems Ltd., Accenture, WNS Global Services Pvt. Ltd., Wipro India Ltd., ATOS Origin, NIIT, Reliance Mutual Fund, Merck Ltd., IDBI Gilts Ltd., JSW, The Leela, etc.

Tribal women are usually poorer than rural village women, but their art and craft skills are known across the globe for their unique beauty and charm. Fully aware of this fact, Sa-Ni-Sa has focused on training them in handicrafts rather than food products. Udaan is the Tribal upliftment program and the brand of Sa-ni-Sa. The journey of Udaan has been a challenging one, since these women are most unwilling to think about their future. Udaan commenced their employment generation program with training them first in making Diyas, but the quick grasp in learning  amongst the rural women and the further urge to learn more has helped the organization expand range of their handmade products and set up the first ever Vocational Training Centre in Sudhagad, Maharashtra. This festive season has filled them with the confidence and a zest to do more as the entire range of gifting solution is at the costumer’s doorstep now.

Some article made by tribal women ... have a look .. these all are very nice ...!

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , , , ,

Few days before, I was reading an article about voice recognition tool, I come across with the name of UBONA Company. So I searched about it and found that ‘last year, Ubona Technologies of Bangalore was awarded No. 1, with revenue growth of 1,353%.’ This is judged by Deloitte India at the program of ‘The seventh Technology Fast 50 award’ which was held on 21 October 2011 at Bangalore. This excites me to know more about this company.

And found this on their site about  them ‘Ubona Technologies, a Bangalore based Technology Company founded in 2007,  was set up to address the barrier of adoption of value added telephony by enabling discovery and interaction possible with the simplest possible phone model. The team at Ubona foresaw a world where getting information and interacting using phone is easy, quick, useful and enriching for everyone. Through its comprehensive suite of value added telephony enabling technologies and the continuous endeavor to create more, Ubona is all set to realize the dream of making value added telephony consumable by masses.

Ubona specializes in Pattern Recognition and Search Technologies – which includes Speech Recognition, Music Fingerprinting technologies and large scale search algorithm, and use these technologies to provide Search and Discovery of music to people in India using a basic mobile phone. Ubona powers music VAS services in most of the leading Operators in India.’

Ubona is a company that targets service providers and helps them adopt Value Added Services (VAS) for millions of their customers. Their very first idea was to develop a voice recognition tool and use it to locate and connect to restaurants, businesses etc without actually knowing the number. For Bangalore, developing a ‘Foodie Hotline’ – where one just needed to say the name of a restaurant and get connected to it, was one of the initial milestones of the company.

The live wire of Ubona’s service is its state of the art speech recognition platform. The speech recognition platform is completely in-house developed and uses a paradigm different from the prevailing methodologies. At Ubona, speech recognition is performed using our own architecture and algorithms.

You know their name (Ubona) is unique and different, the story behind this is ‘Ubona means ‘to hear’ in Swahili, but more importantly they had selected it because they wanted to have a five letter word which sounded unique, easy to pronounce and spell’.

Founded by Jyotirmoy Chakravorthy(Assam Engineering College) who has a massive 22 years of experience in companies like Wipro and eCapital under his belt, and his team are Umesh Singhal (CSE-93), Vishal Lal (EEE-98) and Anshuman Purushottam (MIN-99), Giridhar Shanbagh(University of Mysore)and Shishir Mittal work as a Software Analyst. A vibrant group of innovators, dreamers, and technologists, team Ubona is a potent mix. With an impressive set of patents under their belt, the team is all about making the world simpler through technology.

Ubona relies on keeping its products dynamic and ever-changing including conceptualizing new services on their platform and demonstrating them to their customers. They continuously change and keep the services afresh so that consumer’s interest is always alive.

Latest achievement of Ubona is ‘Tata Sky partners with Ubona Technologies to launch voice activated service.’ Tata Sky Ltd., the joint venture from TATA and STAR in partnership with Ubona Technologies, a leading provider of speech recognition solutions for businesses and consumers in India, today announced the launch of yet another unique innovative Interactive Voice Response (IVR) application being used exclusively by Tata Sky at their call centre facilitates to support the huge demand from its subscribers this festive season. The Ubona's system offers a seamless experience and highly reliable speech recognition to subscribers. It is tailored specifically to the Indian context where people speak in multitude of languages, accents and dictions. The system will help the Tata Sky subscriber reduce the unnecessary waiting period while booking for value add-on packages or the popular Showcase movies. Once the subscriber dials in at the Tata Sky helpline, the subscriber now has an option of the Ubona IVR service which guides him through the process of choosing the required service. Additionally the system provides information on the monthly charges before adding the package and is also equipped to check for balance in the subscriber's account. Alternatively the subscriber also has the option of speaking to the Tata Sky customer care executive directly for additional information.
In an interview Jyotirmoy Chakravorthy(CEO of Ubona) speaks about  challenges faced by his company and that are Creating the technology, evolving the business model, getting the first customer and making the product a success provide a glimpse of what Ubona has been through. ‘As a company one advantage they have is that they owing to the domain they operate in, anything which makes business sense, is and needs  to be inherently scalable’, this  informs Jyotimoy in a interview of him.

And now after knowing Ubona I can say that Ubona Technologies was set up to address the barrier of adoption of value added telephony by enabling discovery and interaction possible with the simplest possible phone model.

Being among only a few companies in the world to have a speech and music recognition product in the larger consumer environment can be looked at as an early achievement, and a sign of bigger things to come.

Hallway : Start-up by High School Students

At Hallway, a start-up for high school students by high school students

Education technology upstart Hallway shares office space with other young, fledgling companies at The Fort on K Street NW, but its accommodations are a little different.

When its executives arrive earlier than the others, they plop down on the lobby floor, crack open their laptops, and wait for the adults to arrive. As 17-year-old minors, The Fort’s lease precludes them from having their own key to the office.”

Young entrepreneurs aren’t exactly groundbreaking. But even in a post-Mark Zuckerberg world, a crop of teenagers building a technology company from scratch as their summer job is far from commonplace.

Hallway offers an online portal where students can submit questions on various school subjects, such as calculus or algebra, that their peers then answer. Students can rate which questions and answers are most helpful so that useful information rises to the top.

Co-founder and chief executive Sean McElrath and his co-workers Cyrus Malekpour, Michael Chan, Darren Bolduc, Dennis Lysenko and Allison Chou, are rising seniors at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a selective but public magnet school in the Alexandria area.

The group has attracted angel investors who have funneled tens of thousands of dollars into the company, and could soon raise additional capital as they look to hire full-time staff.

CraftsVilla : The best online handicraft and natural products e-commerce portal from India

Craftsvilla.com is a marketplace to "Discover Unique Indian Products" including Handmade, Vintage, Ethnic, Organic and Natural products from India.

Here is an Interview from the founder of the company - Monica Gupta

Monica Gupta, Founder

1.      Please describe Craftsvilla.com and why you open this company?

Craftsvilla is an online platform where Indian artisans and craftsmen can directly with global consumers. It is basically an online store for handmade, handcrafted, organic and natural products.

The inspiration of Craftsvilla started after founder Monica Gupta’s road trip where she found many artisans and craftsmen who made wonderful creations yet were struggling to make ends meet.

The problem was that these artisans were selling their products to middlemen who paid them very low for their creations. These third parties then themselves sold the items at inflated rates in the market. Being from the rural areas, the artisans weren’t educated enough nor had the resources to market their products. Many of them were on the verge of quitting.

Monica believed that if the same scenario continued, a time would come when many of our artisans would have quit and we would have lost many of these ethnic crafts.

On returning from Kutch, Monica sat down with her husband Manoj Gupta and discussed about a platform where these artisans could directly with consumers. This was the genesis of Craftsvilla where artisans can open their own shop and showcase their creations.

2.      How you and your Craftsvilla try to attract customers about your services?
We greatly rely on word of mouth and repeat customers to spread the word. We believe that if you offer customers has received good service the first around in terms of shipment and product quality, he or she would not only be inclined to buy again but they will also spread the word about us and this is one of the most important cogs of our online marketing.

We also attract customers through other social mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc and through paid ads and through SEO.

3.      Are customers really satisfied with your services?
Customers are satisfied with our services because we place a great emphasis on customer experience. We also send a small surprise gift to our customers along with the orders and generally when you receive something extra that you hadn’t ordered for, it doubles your happiness.

Also unlike other ecommerce sites, we aren’t competing with the brand phenomenon because we don’t have those on our site. What we are selling are unique creations which are tough to find either online or even offline. So we are offering customers something different from the usual ecommerce space.

Customers who shop at Craftsvilla end up invariably shopping 4-5 times a year with us.

4.      Tell me some interesting feedback which you got from your customers? Any two.

There was one of these customers of her from the US who had never heard of Warli Art but so enamored was she by one of the Warli paintings, that she bought it. She says that if it wasn’t for Craftsvilla, she wouldn’t have discovered such a beautiful art form. Making more people aware of our rich culture is an extremely important part of our business and we really believe that we managed to convert this customer into an Indian art lover.

Also many of our customers feel happy when they receive the handwritten note by the founder because it really adds a real personal touch to the entire experience which we always try to do.

5.      Craftsvilla provide online payment or cash on delivery services ?
We do have cash in advance and cash on delivery services. Customers can also pay through their credit or debit card or via net banking. One can also pay for their products through Paypal services. Most of our international customers opt for this service.

6.      As you know Cyber Crime is growing day by day, so how you protect Craftsvilla from malicious hackers?
"We use encryption and secure authentication protocols in protecting our database and code. All our transactions are supported by sophisticated authentication protocols which ensure no data theft while transaction data is moving between our server and customer's PC. Also we use firewalls to protect from malicious attacks like denial of service."

7. What is your target and vision regarding Craftsvilla?

Our vision with Craftsvilla is to create a global brand for Indian arts and crafts. For years now, India has been one of the biggest exporters of handicrafts but are artisans live under pitiable conditions.

Ours is a platform where we are making an effort to accommodate all kind of Indian handicrafts under one roof and make them a global brand and we believe we would be able to do so the way we are on course to do so.
