Benefits of Ethical Hacking Certification

Hacking is a word that is mostly used by hackers. These hackers love to sit in front of computers and use resources to find out some information on the computer network of other people especially defense network. The hackers get into government’s and other organization’s computer network to gain some data or money from it directly or indirectly. So the role of an ethical hacker is to secure government’s or organization’s data and important information from these hackers. To do so, you need to have a certification of ethical hacking that gives you the authority to access others computer network for goods and security. So in this article, we have given some benefits of ethical hacking certification.

 Right to work for an organization :

An ethical hacking certification program gives you the right to work for an organization. Without ethical hacking certification, no organization will let you work for them because security of official data is extremely necessary for any organization. So they need a proof that you have learnt ethical hacking from a place that offers ethical hacking certification.

 Fight against terrorism:

After ethical hacking certification, you can fight against terrorism by gaining hold of terrorists through hacking. Nowadays, many terrorists use emails and other tools on the web before any terrorist activity. So on earning ethical hacking certification, you can secure your country by hacking the terrorists’ emails and their activities on the web.

 Authority to secure something from hackers:

To secure data from hackers, you need to have a certification of ethical hacking that gives you the authority to access other computer networks for noble cause. For security reasons, no one gives the authority to secure their network and information from hackers as they believe only certified ethical hackers.

 A bright Career :

Of cource ! Certification of ethical hacker provides you with numerous career opportunities in the field of information security. These jobs are counted as reputed ones. Without certification, no organization will hire you as these jobs are related to their business and data security. So they can’t take risk of hiring a non certified ethical hacker.

 Get a chance to secure your motherland :

After this certification, you can secure your motherland from terrorist activity and this would be a life time opportunity for you. There are many certified ethical hackers who are working for Indian government in securing India from terrorists. So after the certification, you can also get a chance to do so.

CYBER THREAT FOR 2013

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , , ,
To help organizations prepare for next year, the Websense Security Labs announced a few predictions for the 2013 threat landscape

Since the spear-phishing attack on the White House, it is evident that cyber criminals have gained confidence and momentum in 2012. To help organisations prepare for next year, the Websense Security Labs announced a few predictions for the 2013 threat landscape.
Highlights include:

Mobile devices will be the new target for cross-platform threats: As development barriers are removed, mobile threats will be able to leverage a huge library of shared code. Attacks will also continue to increasingly use social engineering lures to capture user credentials on mobile devices;

Cyber criminals will use bypass methods to avoid traditional sandbox detection: More organisations are utilising virtual machine defenses to test for malware and threats. As a result, attackers are taking new steps to avoid detection by recognising virtual machine environments. These advanced attacks will remain hidden until they are sure they aren't in a virtual security environment;

Legitimate mobile app stores will host more malware in 2013: Malicious apps will increasingly slip through validation processes. They will continue to pose risks to organisations enabling Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies;

Government-sponsored attacks will increase as new players enter: Expect more governments to enter the cyber-warfare arena. In the wake of several publicised cyber-warfare events, there are a number of contributing factors that will drive more countries toward these strategies and tactics;

Malicious emails are making a comeback: Timed and targeted spear-phishing email attacks, along with an increase in malicious email attachments, are providing new opportunities for cyber crime.

Bank told to pay 42 thousand to man whose account was hacked

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , ,
Protecting the rights of those who use internet banking, a state commission upheld a district forum order and directed a bank to compensate a Navi Mumbai doctor Rs 42,000 after his account was hacked and the money withdrawn.

The commission took into consideration the RBI guidelines which state that it is the bank's liability to the customers on account of unauthorized transfer through hacking, denial of service on account of technological failure, etc needs to be assessed and banks providing internet banking should insure themselves against such risk. "The appellant (bank) has not explained whether they have acted in accordance with these guidelines. The deficiency in service on the part of the appellant is proved beyond doubts," the commission said.

Dr Nandkishor Shingne had an account in the bank since 2005. According to Shingne, he occasionally used the internet banking facility and the last transaction he made was on November 7, 2009. In June 2010, the bank manager informed him that somebody had used his internet ID and password to withdraw money. Shingne checked the transaction details and found that there were four entries in his account and an amount of Rs 37,500 had been withdrawn. The transaction had taken place on June 17, 2010 between 12.20am and 1.30am. The manager further told him that the money was transferred to the account of one person from the bank's Gurgaon branch and subsequently, transferred to the Mira Road Branch in the account of two other people. This amount was later withdrawn from an ATM at Vashi.

Shingne was assured he would get back the amount. However, despite writing two letters to the bank, he got no response. Finally, the bank told him that he would not get back his money as it was not their fault that the money was withdrawn. Shingne contended that the internet banking system used by the bank was not full proof and filed a complaint in the district forum in 2010. Shingne argued the case himself.

The bank said that they were using internet banking as per the international standards and all security measures for the system were in place. The bank also argued that the responsibility of keeping the ID and password secret was the complainant's responsibility.

In 2011, the district forum came to the conclusion that there was deficiency in service on the part of the bank and directed the bank to pay Rs 35,500 along with Rs 5,000 to Shingne. The bank then filed an appeal in the state commission.

The commission observed that the bank had not taken any steps to trace the culprits. "The opponent could have traced the person who had withdrawn the amount as the money was credited in the account of the account holder of the Gurgaon branch and Mira Road branch of the opponent," the commission said.

Fastest growing e-shopping portal of India : JABONG.COM

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , ,

Designers and retailers are opting for the “e” route to sell their wares. It saves on the high real-estate and operational costs of brick-and-mortar stores. Joining ranks with successful shopping portals such as www.flipkart.com, www.juvalia.in and www.perniaspopupshop.com is 10-month old www.jabong.com which stocks over 700 brands such as Ray-Ban, Calvin Klein, Nike, Clarks and Carlton London. Manu Kumar Jain, the website’s co-founder, unveiled a collection of VS-319 bats earlier this week, commemorating Virender Sehwag’s score of 319 runs against South Africa in 2008 — which will be sold exclusively through Jabong.

 Jabong.com is an Indian Online fashion & Apparel store funded by Germany based incubator Rocket Internet. Jabong.com deals with apparels, footwear, jewellery, beauty products, Fragrances, Home Accessories and a few other varieties of products. Jabong has a well-maintained warehouse in approx. 1 lakh sq. feet area. The store at present has over 200 brands and 20,000 products and office in gurgaon it is upcoming fashion megastore Tagged as "Delivering lifestyle", Within 4 months of launch of operations, the company has over a million page views daily with more than 160,000 unique visitors which has taken the company to Rank 58 in Alexa rankings in India, leading to about 82,939 registered users in 5 months. Jabong offers express delivery with multiple methods for payment including credit/debit card, net banking and cash on delivery. The cash on delivery payment model is very significant in India, as people would like to see the product before making a purchase.

Here is an interview of the co-founder of the company

Have you tracked the web traffic on Jabong? How much of this translates into actual transactions?
I can’t divulge sales figures but as per the latest Com-Score report of September 2012, Jabong has recorded the second-highest web traffic (and the highest in the lifestyle domain) amongst all Indian e-commerce companies. The first, naturally, was Flipkart. But we [Jabong] were very close. Among all our items, shoes and apparel sell the most.

Why would a customer visit an online shopping portal instead of an offline one?
Every customer wants to browse through and purchase lifestyle brands, but not everyone has access to high-end malls. ‘E-tailing’ gives customers that opportunity without stepping out of their offices or homes. Moreover, customers can compare brands, colours and products with an easy click. Also, online shopping saves time and fuel!

Who is your target customer?
Anyone who is lifestyle and fashion-conscious. When we started operations, most of our revenues came from metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. But in the last few months, we have seen a huge traffic from tier-II cities which now form a significant part of our revenue, mostly because they don’t have access to big brands. In fact, I came to know about a customer from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh who wanted a specific brand, size, style and colour of a shirt — simply because he had seen a sportsman wearing it. He had the purchasing power and exposure to the brand. But to buy it, he had to travel for hours to get to the nearest retail outlet. And so he logged on to Jabong.

How do you track customer satisfaction and feedback?
During preliminary research, we found out that the one thing customers were most weary of was the long waiting period to receive their merchandise. They simply lost interest. So, we promise timely delivery across the country through our in-house shipping system. For instance, if you place an order at noon from Delhi, we will deliver it the same day. For other cities, it might take a little under 48 hours as long as you order before six in the evening. To gauge customer satisfaction, we conduct surveys regularly and have set up a team to analyse the results. At times, we call customers randomly to ask about their experience or conduct in-depth interviews with some. If need be, we also outsource the work to a market research agency.

one of ours customer said about us "Love that the delivery as well as the follow-up by email regarding exchange were so prompt ! There was never a situation where I was kept waiting for the reply from the customer-care, keep it up ! And for people like me who may not be able to take calls on my mobile for most of the day, such prompt replies on e-mail are a blessing, keep it up Jabong ! :) Your site is awesome ! So much of variety , I mean the collection of products ! Even in the footwear there are so many available ! That’s great !   Rest it’s good ! :) I like to shop more from Jabong everytime I have time to go and explore onlineI am highly pleased with the professionalism shown by Jabong.com in shipping my orders incredibly fast, that too all the way from Gurgaon to Bangalore. I got my hands on the products in less than 24 hrs which compels me to return to them for my future shopping as well. Well done Jabong.com. Way to go :) "

For an online portal, visual presentation is key. How do you ensure the brands who collaborate with you are kept happy?
We provide seven different shots of each products — zoomed in and out, with and without a model — to help the customer make the right choice.

Is e-commerce the way forward for designers and retailers alike?
I hope so, else I am in the wrong place! [Laughs]. Online shopping has become a new fad among the masses because of benefits such as safe transactions, flexible payment options such as cash on delivery, return policy and attractive offers during festive season.

Jabong was found in year 2011; it’s a young and vibrant company with about 800 employees. The new venture will be spearheaded by a founding team of three highly educated and experienced entrepreneurs Lakshmi Potluri, Arun Chandra Mohan and Praveen Sinha. Jabong.com was co-founded by Manu Kumar Jain.

Memory Boy of India who remembers everything

Posted on:
tags: , , , , , , ,

It's 5.30 pm. A smog-blanketed day. Maddening Diwali traffic. After two hours of driving, one reaches a high-rise in Gurgaon to meet a mini supercomputer. He's all alone. His parents are at work. That hardly matters for 15-year-old Saswat Satapathy , the youngest National Memory Champion in the world. He has more weighty matters to think about. Like the impending World Memory Championship (WMC) in London from December 14-16 where he wants to win the Grandmaster title.

Serious and confident, Saswat is the boy-next-door , ambling in shorts and T-shirt . He wants to show his skills. One writes a 15-digit number — 743280947328127. He focuses on it, closes his eyes and in 20 seconds rattles it off. Backwards too. Seeing one's astonished look, he explains, "I convert every number into an object and weave a story around the digits. So, 74 stands for Taj Mahal, 32 for book, 80 for feathers, 94 for Coca-Cola , 73 for lawyer, 28 for car, 12 for plane and 7 for stadium. The story I made is: I went to Taj Mahal and found a book of feathers. These were pushed into the eye and Coca-Cola gushed out along with a lawyer who then sat in a car which became a plane which crashed into a stadium." Stumped?

But these are small tasks for Saswat . He has memorized 500 years' calendar and 500-digit numbers. There is a method in his brilliance. He follows a concept called COMBS — colourful , moving, big and strange — wherein the brain will capture anything which has these four elements. "I exercise my brain for an hour every day. For London, I need to remember 1,000-digit numbers in one hour."

Ask Saswat which day of the week will be January 31, 2014 and he says, "Saturday...no, Friday." His father, Debasis Satapathy, an HR executive , who walks in then explains, "He goes wrong when he's distracted." His phenomenal memory was noticed when he was six. He was taken by Debasis to a training camp where memory coach Venkat was showcasing his skills. "Saswat came home, practiced some tricks and the next day memorized a 20-digit number," says Debasis. "Seeing his potential, I put him under the tutelage of Anant Kasibhatla , Venkat's son."

Saswat took flight under him. He won two medals each at the WMC in China in 2010 and 2011. These annual championships began in 1991 and participants are tested in 10 disciplines. "My expertise is in spoken numbers where the computer calls out one number per second and one has to remember 200, 300 and 500-digit numbers. I have reached 76-digits . I can also remember the sequence of a deck of cards in 56 seconds and hope to get into the Limca Books of Records." So what's the secret of his memory — genes or training? While Debasis says it's not a God-given gift, genes have a part to play. Saswat's mother, Sujata Mishra, is a Ph D in nuclear chemistry from IIT-Delhi and teaches in an engineering college. "My father has a bad memory," says Saswat.

He's not a topper though."I am usually third in class," he says. "But yes, memory helps me remember data such as periodical tables." He also represented India in the World Mathematics Championship in Germany in 2011 and watches Shakuntala Devi, the maths wizard. "My friends say I am the future Shakuntala Devi," he says casually.

Anant says Saswat's perseverance is his forte. "He practices daily. There are times when we've trained for six hours." Anyone can get a good memory by doing brain exercises, he says. "Try not to use a calculator, mobile or a shopping list. Just memorise."

Surprisingly, it's biology that's Saswat's favourite subject. "I want to be a cardiologist." His supreme focus is evident in the black-and-white board adorning his bedroom door. 'Dr Saswat Satapathy, professor of cardiology , AIIMS,' it proclaims.His principal , Dr D R Saini of DPS, R K Puram, has showcased him at many forums. "In March, I was felicitated by President Pratibha Patil during the school's 40th anniversary. I feel nice about that," says Saswat. He's also given presentations at IIT-Delhi .
